Untangling Valadon
From Philip Gladstone's Pictures Within Pictures (Museum) Series, works that reference and pay homage to iconic works of art, artists and popular culture, often with a serious underlying message — in this instance featuring Suzanne Valadon's (French, 1865-1938) 1914 oil Casting the Net, and Valadon herself with her dogs, adapted from a circa 1930 photograph of the artist in her studio, serving as the museum guards
