About this work: Philip Gladstone's "This Too Shall Pass", a surreal, dreamlike composition conceived of by the artist in a stream-of-consciousness fashion while ruminating on our troubled, uncertain times, is a mashup of William-Adolphe Bouguereau's 1850 oil "Dante and Virgil" and Frederic Leighton's c. 1880-1881 "Idyll"
