"The Struggle"

About this work: "The Struggle" is a mashup of imagery featuring a loose interpretation of a 1915 illustration by American artist Perham Wilhelm Nahl (1869-1935) entitled The 13th Labor of Hercules combined with a U.S. Army photograph of a grief stricken American infantryman, whose friend has been killed in action, comforted by another soldier (Korea, 1950); see the last two pictures for the original source material
