"Wired" is an original mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
  • Wired is an expressive 'mashup' of two historical images: Picasso's celebrated mural Guernica, combined with an iconic Pulitzer prize winning photograph known as The Kiss of Life captured by news photographer Rocco Morabito for the now-defunct Jacksonville Journal in 1967
  • Made with graphite, India ink, watercolor, watercolor pencils and Windsor & Newton pigmented markers on Arches 140 lb. hot-press watercolor paper
  • Image measures 12-1/2 by 9-3/4 inches (as shown, sheet slightly lager)
  • Created in 2019-2024
  • Signed by the artist with his monogram cipher (PG) and dated "2024", lower right/center; signed again with the artists's full name and inscribed with the title on the reverse
  • Provenance: Created, titled "Bird on a Wire" and sold to a private California collection, 2019; re-acquired from the late collector's estate by Philip Gladstone Studio in 2023 and extensively reworked and re-titled on January 1, 2024
