"The Wheel" is an original framed mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
- Adapted from a ca. 1906 drawing by William MacArthur in the collection of The Glasgow School of Art [View on Glasgow School website]
- Made with charcoal, white chalk, ink washes, pen-and-inks and touches of colored pencil with scraping on gessoed 4-ply rag board
- Warm silver (metal leaf) wooden custom frame with a narrow black core acid-free mat/liner; glazed with TrueVue Optimum Museum acrylic and finished with archival backing, a Tyvek dust cover, installed hanging hardware and a label on the back recording the title and date of the work; crafted by the artist at his studio in Maine
- Image measures 10-5/16 by 10-5/16 inches
- Measures framed 15-1/2 by 15-1/2 inches
- Created in January 2023
- Signed by the artist with his monogram cipher (PG), inscribed "After William MacArthur" and dated "2023", lower left; signed again with his full name and inscribed with the title on the reverse
