- About: The Expulsion from Oz (The Show's Sold Out) is an inventive, dream-like mashup of source material, including Horace Bristol's iconic 1944 photograph PBY Blister Gunner, Masaccio's early renaissance fresco Expulsion from the Garden of Eden, and an adaptation of a vintage Wizard of Oz Movie poster
- Made with watercolor, pen-and-ink and colored pencils with sgraffito (scraping) on clay-coated paper
- Image measures 10-3/4 by 10-3/4 inches (as shown, sheet slightly larger)
- Created in 2017
- Signed by the artist with his monogram cipher (PG) and dated "2017", lower left; signed again with the artist's full name and inscribed with the title on the reverse
- Provenance: Sold by the artist to a private California collection, 2017; re-acquired from the late collector's estate by Philip Gladstone Studio, 2023
