"Linkages" is an original mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
- Adapted from an official 1943 U.S. Navy photograph in the National Archives, depicting troops headed for the invasion of Sicily studying guidebooks for North Africa and otherwise passing the time in their bunks on board a U. S. Navy transport
- Made with watercolor, pen-and-ink, colored pencils and Windsor & Newton pigmented markers with sgraffito (scraping) on clay-coated paper
- Image measures 11-1/4 by 14-1/4 inches (as shown, sheet slightly larger)
- Created in 2017
- Signed by the artist with his monogram cipher (PG) and dated "2017", upper left; signed again with the artist's full name and inscribed with the title on the reverse
- Provenance: Sold by the artist to a private California collection, 2017; re-acquired from the late collector's estate by Philip Gladstone Studio, 2023
