"Helping Hands" is an original framed mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
- About: "Helping Hands" is an original composition in homage to Thomas Eakins's "The Swimming Hole", featuring figures adapted from reference photographs made by Eakins and his students in the 1880's
- Framed by the artist in a wooden frame with an antique gold (metal leaf) finish, and double-matted with an inner 8-ply mat faux-gilded by the artist; glazed with TrueVue Optimum Museum acrylic
- Made with watercolor, pen-and-ink and colored pencils with sgraffito (scraping) on clay-coated paper
- Image measures 12-3/8 by 12-3/8 inches
- Created in 2017, framed by the artist 2023
- Signed by the artist with his monogram cipher (PG) and dated "2017", lower right; signed again with the artist's full name and inscribed with the title on the reverse
- Provenance: Sold to a private collection in 2017 and purchased from that estate in 2023; framed and sold again to a private collection in March 2023, and accepted by the artist in November 2023 in partial payment for a negotiated larger art purchase
