From the Las Cruces Museum website:

At times humorous, other times contemplative, this engaging exhibit features over thirty contemporary artists who reinterpret the artwork or artistic styles of a wide range of master artists including Johannes Vermeer, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Keith Haring. Through paintings, prints and sculptures the artists convey their own unique expressions of well-known artworks. The exhibit offers viewers an informal introduction into the world of art history by presenting approachable art based on the classics.

David Lyman is a retired physician, avid gardener and life-long collector of art. Chris Alexander is a psychologist, watercolorist, art collector and lover of all things New Mexico. They enjoy living and hiking in sunny Las Cruces with their dog Carlos. In recent years, they have collected many pieces of art from contemporary artists who delve into the rich history of art to create often humorous and always thought-provoking takes on famous works.
