Presenting a new original work from the studio of Philip Gladstone
"The Workman's New Clothes"
About: This is a new variant on paper of an earlier (2017) painting on panel by Gladstone, a personal favorite revisited in 2020 for the pleasure of making it again — this time with a greater emphasis on detail and texture, and utilizing complex techniques and mixed-media. The composition is a 'mashup' of source imagery that has resonated with the artist: a ca.1910 French académie by an unknown painter in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and a ca. 1905 photograph of a hydroelectric station discovered by chance on the Library of Congress website
The Workman's New Clothes is an original mixed-media work on paper by Philip Gladstone
